Step 1
Place a drain pan under the sump connection to collect any fuel that may run out of the tank. Remove your existing sump fitting and clean all remaining thread sealant tape from the threads of the sump connection.
Read entire installation instructions carefully. If you have any questions, call Customer Service at (909) 947-0015. Drive until the low fuel warning comes on. Make sure the engine is turned off and the vehicle is in Park and the Parking Brake is set. Safely raise and support the side of the truck to minimize the amount of fuel around the sump connection.

If you do not plan to have an aftermarket lift pump connected to the sump, you will have TP0062-00 Sump Plug Kit. This kit will come with a Hex Plug and Viton Gasket.
If you plan to connect an aftermarket lift pump to the sump, you will have TP0063-00 Sump Fitting for ½” Fuel Hose or TP0064-00 Sump Fitting for ⅝” Fuel Hose. These kits will come with a JIC fitting, Viton Gasket, and a 90 degree Hose Fitting.
Install thread seal tape rated for diesel fuel to the pipe threads of the Hex Plug. Do not put seal tape on the first pipe thread as shown.
Install thread seal tape rated for diesel fuel to the pipe threads of the JIC Fitting. Do not put seal tape on the first pipe thread as shown.
Install the Viton Gasket over the pipe threads of the Hex Plug. Make sure the Viton Gasket is up against the Hex Plug flange as shown.
Install the Viton Gasket over the pipe threads of the JIC Fitting. Make sure the Viton Gasket is up against the Fitting flange as shown.
Install the Hex Plug with the Viton Gasket into the sump connection on your tank. Tighten the Hex Plug by hand until the Viton Gasket contacts the tank. Using a wrench, tighten the Hex Plug an additional 2 turns. The installed Hex Plug should look like the picture shown.
Install the JIC Fitting with the Viton Gasket into the sump connection on your tank. Tighten the Fitting by hand until the Viton Gasket contacts the tank. Using a wrench, tighten the Fitting an additional 2 turns. The installed JIC Fitting should look like the picture shown.
If you will be using an aftermarket lift pump, remove your existing sump pump fitting from the fuel line for your lift pump. Tighten the 90 degree Hose Fitting onto the JIC Fitting. Attach the fuel line to the 90 degree Hose Fitting and secure the fuel line with a hose clamp.
Safely lower the side of the truck so that the fuel returns to the sump. Check for fuel leaks. If you are using an aftermarket lift pump, prime the pump and check for fuel leaks. If no leaks are present, the installation is complete.
