Step 1
Raise the vehicle up on a lift to working height.
Installation can be completed without a lift. Make sure the vehicle is safely parked on flat ground with the parking brake set and a wheel chock as a backup.

Raise the vehicle up on a lift to working height.
Installation can be completed without a lift. Make sure the vehicle is safely parked on flat ground with the parking brake set and a wheel chock as a backup.
Using an 8mm Socket/Ratchet, loosen the hose clamp on the filler neck. Then remove the hose from the fuel tanks filler neck.
Using an 8mm Socket/Ratchet, loosen the hose clamp on the vent hose located on the top of the stock fuel tank.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the top of the Fuel Sending Unit. You may need a Small Flathead Screwdriver to press on the clip at the top of the connector.
Disconnect the (2) fuel lines at the front end of the fuel tank by pushing the blue and white clips outward and pulling each fuel line apart.
Support the OEM Fuel Tank with a jack in order to get ready for the next steps.
Using a 15mm Socket/Ratchet and various Extensions to remove the front hangar bolt. Then, in order to remove it, you'll need to lift the hangar up and out of the top hanger pocket.
Using a 15mm Socket/Ratchet and various Extensions to remove the rear hangar bolt. Then, in order to remove the strap, you'll need to lift the hangar up and out of the top hanger pocket.
Now, go ahead and lower the fuel tank from the vehicle. We recommend having a second set of hands to help remove the Fuel Tank. Especially if its full of fuel.
Now it's time to remove and transfer the OEM Fuel Sending Unit from the stock tank to the S&B Fuel Tank. We recommend using a Lock Ring Wrench to remove and install the Sending Unit lock ring.
*You can find a Lock Ring Wrench at most auto parts stores or on Amazon. Just make sure it'll fit your vehicle.
Once done, disconnect the fuel lines from their clips on the top of the fuel tank.
First, check the inside of the tank for any debris that could've gotten in there during shipping. Once done, please mount the provided O-ring before installing the stock sending unit.
Remove the stock sending unit from the stock fuel tank. We recommend draining any remaining fuel from the sending unit to prevent spilling anything once you install it into the S&B Fuel Tank.
Install the stock sending unit into the S&B Fuel Tank.
When installing the stock sending unit, make sure to clock the tab in the correct orientation/position depending un your model year.
Green Arrow is for 11-16 Trucks
Red Arrow is for 17+ Trucks
*We recommend taking a picture of the specific position once you remove the tank from the truck.
Using the locking ring tool, tighten down the ring.
Ensure that the raised lip (right arrow) goes past the recessed lip (left arrow).
Run the sending unit fuel lines along the top of the S&B Fuel Tank.
Now, go ahead and put the S&B Fuel Tank on the jack and lift it into position.
Re-install the (2) fuel lines at the front of the Fuel Tank.
Now, cut the stock vent hose in order to line up with S&B Fuel Tank vent fitting located on top of the tank. Measure twice and cut longer then your measurement to ensure it'll fit correctly.
Next, using the provided 5/8th barb, cover the stock sending unit vent port. Then use using an 8mm socket/ratchet, tighten the hose clamp down around it.
Now its time to plug the electrical connector back into your stock Sending Unit.
Using an 8mm Socket/Ratchet, go ahead and reconnect the filler neck hose.
Now, using a zip-tie, go ahead and attach the 5/8th vent tube to one of the hoses located near the filler neck - such as the DEF line.
Mount the back hangar first. To do so you'll need a 15mm Socket/Ratchet.
Next, go ahead and install the front hangar. You will need to mount the hangar, then jack up the tank and front strap to line up the mounting holes and make the install easier. You'll also need a 15mm Socket/Ratchet to tighten down the hangar bolt.
At this point, please verify that all connection points are secure and all fuel lines/electrical connectors are securely connected. Your installation is now complete.
At this point we recommend transferring over your fuel from your OEM tank to your S&B Tank.
